Spend two nights in Cardiff, with plenty to see around Welsh capital city, including fascinating St. Fagans National Museum of History and fairytale Cardiff Castle. On the way to North Wales, drive through beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park and stop in the pretty towns of Brecon and Builth Wells. Meet locals who have a strong culture and heritage and still speak a Celtic language natively. Overnight in Llangollen where you might wish to take a stroll along the Victoria Promenade.

You’ll travel through Snowdonia National Park via Betws-y-Coed and on to Caernarfon, famous for its enormous medieval castle and have some time to spend in its vibrant shops, cafés, and traditional pubs. On your way to England’s Manchester, stop in Chester and take photos of its 16th century Tudor buildings traditionally constructed from oak with the timbers stained with black tar. Spend the last night of your escorted tour in Manchester where you gather with your traveling companions, and raise a glass to this Welsh adventure.

Manchester, UK

Manchester, UK

Although its industrial history has left parts of Manchester, England, somewhat grimy and ugly, the "capital of the North" has evolved into a thriving hub thanks to recent redevelopment. It is located 30 mi/50 km east of Liverpool.

One highlight is the Lowry Centre, home to galleries and eateries. Another is the futuristic building that houses the Imperial War Museum North (a branch of the excellent London institution) on the banks of the ship canal. You'll find good shopping, especially along King Street, and perhaps the best theater outside London.

For architecture buffs, the city's Victorian buildings are unrivaled. Other sights to see include the Museum of Science and Industry, the Manchester Art Gallery, the Whitworth Art Gallery and the John Rylands Library.

Llangollen

Llangollen

Llangollen, 140 mi/225 km north of Cardiff, is nestled in a wooded vale of the same name. Adding to the rustic charm of this country town is a revived steam railway.

Each July, the Llangollen hosts an international music and cultural festival, or eisteddfod. But year-round you can see the haunting ruins of the 13th-century Abbey of Valle Crucis, a few miles/kilometers north, or the 700-year-old Chirk Castle, 6 mi/10 km to the east, on the border with England.

While in the area, make a point to visit Erddig, a country house just south of Wrexham, where things have been left largely unchanged for more than two centuries.

London is undoubtedly one of the world's finest cities. In addition to numerous monuments from its more glorious past, London is equally well-known for its pageantry and tradition. London has something for everyone - wide boulevards buzzing with excitement far into the night, quiet squares and explorable alleyways. Visit this famous city's parks, museums, galleries, monuments, abbeys and churches, skyscrapers and ruins, Georgian squares. Take in such events as the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower, or the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, or even one of the many theatrical productions.
