On this fall foliage tour, experience the spectacular beauty of autumn displays in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Your colorful tour of New England begins in the historic city of Boston. You’ll head north into Maine, for a visit to the charming cobblestoned streets of the maritime city of Portland-complete with lighthouses and lobstermen. Head to Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island-gateway to the woodlands and rocky seashores of Acadia National Park. Keep an eye out for local residents, including beaver, whales, and seabirds on your drive through the park. Your guided tour of New England continues inland through the Longfellow Mountains to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Step back in time through classic covered bridges, quaint towns, and forests bursting with seasonal colors. You’ll drive along New Hampshire’s Kancamagus Scenic Byway through the fragrant pine and colorful deciduous woodlands of Franconia Notch and White Mountain National Forest. Be enthralled with the kaleidoscope of fall colors of birch, beech, and maple trees on your way to Vermont where you’ll visit a sugarhouse in Montpelier that’s been producing maple syrup for eight generations. Travel to Woodstock where you’ll visit Billings Farm & Museum, an outdoor museum and dairy farm. Continue on to Quechee Gorge State Park, Vermont’s ‘Little Grand Canyon’, to take in views of breathtaking Quechee Gorge. Then see historic Plymouth Rock where the pilgrims on the Mayflower landed in 1620. Spend two nights in Hyannis on Cape Cod including a day trip to the tip of the Cape to explore the small community of Provincetown. You’ll return to Boston for a sightseeing adventure to trace the steps of Paul Revere near the Old North Church; see the Boston Common; the old State House; and other locations that are significant to U.S. history along Boston’s Freedom Trail. Provincetown Provincetown Provincetown (or P-town as it's known locally), Massachusetts, exudes an artists-colony atmosphere. It's also known for its large LGBTQ community, which began growing there in the 1920s. In summer, the town is jammed with people sunning, partying and shopping (a lot of it trendy and pricey). The Provincetown Art Association and Museum showcases the work of some of New England's foremost artists. The Expedition Whydah Museum and Gift Shop is a literal treasure trove: The sunken booty of the pirate ship Whydah was excavated in 1984 and is now on display. Even during Provincetown's busiest time of the year, things get quiet—almost mysterious—when fog rolls in at Race Point, just outside of town.	Destination Guide
North Adams North Adams Located in the Berkshires region of northwestern Massachusetts, the small city of North Adams is home to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Montpelier Montpelier Montpelier's year begins with the convening of the Legislature, an active time in the beautiful gold domed Capitol. As the days get longer towards springtime, maple sugaring begins and a visit to one of the many sugar houses is a must. Summer brings the smell of fresh mown hay from the fields of our local dairy farms. Visitors and residents can pick their own strawberries or buy them at the 'Farmers Market' at the Jailhouse Common. Summer festivals and sidewalk sales give way to the crowning glory of Vermont's seasons. Autumn must be seen to be believed and fall foliage activities abound throughout the area. Boston Boston The history and bricklaid beauty of Boston is easy to enjoy. Follow the Freedom Trail past Old North Church, Paul Revere Park, Fanieul Hall, the Commons, Old Ironsides and more landmarks of America's birth. Across the Charles River is Cambridge and Harvard. Venture to Marblehead and Salem to the south, or Lexington and Concord to the north. Back in town, have clam chowder at the warf or great Italian food in North End.	Destination Guide
Bar Harbor Bar Harbor Drawn by the pines, granite shores, fresh lobster and stunning views from Cadillac Mountain, captains of industry once kept summer homes here. The charming little town, and all the rest, remain. And the rocky boulder beaches on its shoreline are now Acadia National Park, a preserved expanse of vintage Down East scenery.	Destination Guide
Hyannis Hyannis Regular fishing and scenic excursions leave from Hyannis, Massachusetts, which serves as a port for ferries from Cape Cod to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket islands. (You also can catch ferries to the two islands from other towns.) The Old Jail built in the early 1700s is supposedly Cape Cod's most haunted building. Given the region's historical prominence, that's saying a lot. Don't miss the early American graffiti on the jailhouse walls. Also in Hyannis, stop at the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum to browse its collection of photographs from JFK's days on Cape Cod. A video (narrated by Walter Cronkite) focuses on the Camelot era of Kennedy's presidency. You can try to see the famous Kennedy compound from the street (the best view may be from the beach), but the homes are not open to the public, and the Kennedy family carefully guards what it can of its privacy. North Conway North Conway North Conway is nestled along the White Mountain National Forest and the tallest peak on the East Coast, Mt. Washington. Outdoors activities are never-ending, such as skiing, hiking, camping and canoeing. After a day in the rugged outdoors, enjoy shopping and dining at the many local shops and eateries.
