Traveling Spoon

Shivani is a Punjabi from the holy city of Amritsar, in northern India, and her husband Kapil is a Peshawari who settled in Delhi after the partition. Shivani has been cooking since she was a teenager and has inherited all her Amritsari recipes and cooking techniques from her mother. Her biggest passion is to cook for her family, and both her husband and daughter relish good food. After marrying Shivani’s passion for cooking grew and she started to develop new recipes. She now runs a catering company that provides wholesome and delicious home cooked food for parties, gatherings and office lunches. Shivani will welcome guests into their family's Delhi home and provide a welcome drink, after which guests will enjoy a traditional Amritsari meal. The menu might include dishes like rajma chawal (red beans in a thick, spiced gravy served with rice), gobi aloo (cauliflower and potato), chole (chickpea curry), sarson da saag with makki di roti (a seasonal winter dish of mustard leaves and spices served on corn flatbreads), or her mother’s special Amritsari mutton (goat) curry. The menu is customizable based on traveler's preferences and any dietary restrictions. If you book a cooking lesson, travelers will learn how to make 2-3 of the dishes during a 1-hour cooking lesson, after which they will sit and enjoy their meal (with other dishes preparated by Shivani in advance). An optional market tour is also available as an add-on, during which Shivani will take travelers to the Kailash Colony Market nearby.
